From the outside, things look fine.

Inside, it's getting louder.

Therapy is a place to slow down and hear what's going on. I've helped many men with anger, substance use, gambling, relationship problems, social anxiety, loneliness, panic, depression, porn addiction, jealousy, and low self-esteem.

THE PROCESS

WHEN YOU'RE READY

Do you wonder where your confidence went? Or why you can’t sleep? Maybe you drink or gamble more than you'd like? Do you feel angry all the time, or blow up at people?

I have extensive experience helping men who feel overwhelmed by emotions they don’t understand and want help  knowing what to do when they come up. Men who outwardly "have it  all together" but privately feel overwhelmed, stuck, lost, or out of  control.

The issues I treat include anger, anxiety, depression, jealousy, body image, alcohol use and other addictive behaviors, and low self-esteem. Many of my patients are high-achieving guys who struggle to be themselves, young people longing for close connection, and couples  who just want to stop fighting.

Whether you’re trying to cope in a hard time or want to understand yourself better, I can help you explore what you’re feeling and how you got here, so you can find new ways of being with yourself.

I offer in-person sessions to adults and couples. Please feel free to reach out if you would like to schedule a free 30-minute consultation.

PRIVATE AND WELCOMING

In a safe and nonjudgmental place, we turn off the phone, slow down, and take a breath. We notice what’s happening in the moment for you, help you get underneath the old stories you tell yourself, and discover the heart of what you’re struggling with.

We can’t always think our way out of a problem. Curiosity about that present moment experience can help us understand old hurts you may be carrying and give us a chance to heal them and move forward. Over time, this approach can help you access your innate resiliency.

My work is conversational and relaxed. I don’t stay silent or use jargon,  and I’m not here to judge or fix you. I want to understand you: how you  think, react, and cope. Sessions often mix serious moments with light ones; both are important. People do their best work when they feel comfortable, taken seriously, and met with real curiosity.

A BIT ABOUT ME

JEREMY JOHNSON, MA, MHC-LP

I've lived in New York City on and off for thirty years. These days I'm in Brooklyn and love to explore its incredible neighborhoods. Especially the food!

Before becoming a therapist, I enjoyed a long  career in theater. While I loved performing, I wanted to help people in a more direct and personal way. What connects the two, and keeps me engaged, is simple: I like people. I want to know how they became who they are, what they carry, and what happens when they can speak freely and be heard honestly.
