Please reach out ("Contact" above) if you don't see an answer to your question.
The easiest way to start is to call or email me for a complimentary 30-minute consultation. If we agree that we might be a good fit to work together, we'll schedule a first appointment and I'll send you a confirmation email with the necessary forms and information to begin therapy.
My standard rate for a 45-minute session is $225. A one-hour couples session is $250. A sliding scale may be available for new patients with financial need.
I am not in network for any insurance company. However, you can use out-of-network benefits to receive reimbursement for a portion of the cost of therapy with me. Many plans, including Blue Cross Blue Shield, Aetna, and Cigna, allow for out-of-network coverage. If you're not sure if you have out-of-network benefits, you can call your insurance company and ask them these questions:
A therapist can be an important ally and trusted partner in navigating life's challenges. Building that alliance can take some time, and you will sense when you feel comfortable talking to me. I strongly support your right to the therapeutic relationship, and the treatment, that's right for you.
You don't have to prepare anything (unless you want to!) We'll start by exploring what's bringing you to therapy, and what you hope to change. As work progresses, you can determine what areas you want to spotlight. I’ll be there to help you build insight around your thoughts, feelings, and behaviors, and the meanings and narratives constructed around them. Over time, we can identify skills you can use to transcend old ways of being, and address challenges in a new way.
Everything you tell me is kept in strict confidence, according to the American Counseling Association's ethical codes, as well as the law. A few safety exceptions apply; we'll review those during your first session.
Research tells us, and I have seen this in my practice, that therapy is most effective when patients are seen at least once a week, at a regular appointment time. I therefore see all of my patients at least once a week, and strongly encourage attendance at the the same time each week.
Your treatment, including duration of therapy, is tailored to you, your needs, and what you hope to change. Patients often report feeling better after a few weeks or months. At the same time, however, longer-term therapy allows for deeper exploration, greater intimacy, and profound change.
